The Ultimate Kyoto Hidden Gems Tour 🇯🇵 Food, Temples & LOTS of Curry!
Welcome back to another episode of our Honeymoon Diaries! In this vlog, we explored some of Kyoto’s most peaceful spots and indulged in some seriously unforgettable food. If you're planning a trip to Japan, or just love Kyoto, you’ll want to follow along for this adventure! 🌸🍛
A Must-Try: CoCo Curry
We started our day with a meal that quickly became an obsession—CoCo Curry. If you haven’t tried it yet, this is your sign! We ordered mild curry with veggies and a fluffy egg on top, and it was absolute perfection. It’s the kind of comfort food that hits the spot in every way. If you find yourself in Japan, you HAVE to give CoCo Curry a go. Trust us, it’s addictive!
The Tranquility of Higashi Hongan-ji
Next, we visited Higashi Hongan-ji, a massive Buddhist temple right in the heart of Kyoto. Despite its central location, the temple offered a sense of peace and quiet that truly surprised us. Walking through the expansive grounds, you can’t help but feel a deep sense of calm. It’s a perfect escape from the bustling city streets.
Hidden Gem: The Moss-Covered Hōnenin
After soaking in the tranquility of Higashi Hongan-ji, we ventured to Hōnenin, a smaller, moss-covered temple that feels like a hidden oasis. The lush greenery and quiet pathways made this stop feel incredibly special. It’s not as well-known as other temples in Kyoto, but that only adds to its charm. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat, this is it.
Exploring the Crowds at the Silver Pavilion (Higashiyama Jisho-ji)
Of course, we couldn’t miss a visit to the famous Silver Pavilion, Higashiyama Jisho-ji. While the grounds and gardens were as beautiful as we had imagined, be prepared for crowds—especially if you visit during peak hours. Still, it’s a must-see, especially if you’re a fan of Japanese Zen gardens.
A Cozy Meal at Yudofu Kisaki
For lunch, we stopped at Yudofu Kisaki to try a traditional Kyoto dish—simmered tofu. The restaurant’s cozy, intimate atmosphere made the experience even more special. Sitting in a traditional setting, enjoying a warm bowl of yudofu, it felt like we were tasting a piece of Kyoto’s culture. The flavors were subtle but delicious, and the tofu was melt-in-your-mouth soft.
The Buzzing Energy of Nishiki Market
We ended our day by exploring the famous Nishiki Market. Full of unique stalls selling everything from fresh produce to quirky souvenirs, it’s a foodie’s paradise! We even stumbled upon a stall offering 100 yen sake—a fun little treat to cap off our adventure. Nishiki Market has a buzzing energy that’s contagious, and we could’ve easily spent hours wandering through the stalls.
We hope you enjoyed this little journey through some of Kyoto’s hidden gems and foodie finds! Don’t forget to give the video a thumbs up, comment, and subscribe to our channel—we have more travel vlogs coming soon! ✈️
