We Got LOST in Nakano Broadway! + Cutest Maid Cafe In Tokyo | Honeymoon Diaries
Tokyo is a city that never fails to surprise, with hidden gems and iconic landmarks around every corner. During our recent trip, we experienced some of the best the city has to offer—from mouthwatering ramen to nostalgic Pokémon card hunts. Here’s a rundown of our day exploring some of Tokyo's coolest spots!
A Taste of the Best Vegan Ramen in Japan
Our day began with a culinary highlight—ramen. We stopped by a cozy ramen shop that served vegan ramen with fresh vegetables, tofu, and a choice of either salt or soy sauce broth. We opted for the soy sauce, and it was the best decision ever! The noodles were bouncy, the broth was rich and flavorful, and the vegan meat was perfectly chewy. Honestly, this was hands down the best ramen we’ve had in Japan. If you’re a ramen fan, this place is a must-visit!
Nostalgic Finds at Akihabara Culture Zone
After filling up on ramen, we ventured deeper into Akihabara, the mecca of otaku culture. One of our favorite stops was Akiba Culture Zone, where we came across a trading card shop that took us straight back to our childhood. Browsing through the selection of Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, we couldn’t help but pick up a few packs to relive the thrill of collecting our favorite characters. It was a nostalgic trip down memory lane, and for any card game fans, this place is pure heaven.
The Cutest (and Strangest) Experience at a Maid Café
Our Akihabara journey wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to a maid café. These cafés are known for their quirky, themed experiences, and let me tell you—it was both awkward and adorable! We even had to do a little dance while our drinks were made. It was fun, lighthearted, and definitely something you can only experience in Akihabara!
Crossing Through the Chaos of Shibuya
From there, we made our way to Shibuya Crossing, one of the most famous intersections in the world. Watching thousands of people scramble across the street in every direction is a sight to behold. It’s the perfect blend of chaos and organization that Tokyo is known for. Shibuya itself is full of neon lights, stylish shops, and bustling nightlife. We wandered around, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and the electric energy of the city.
The Arcade Addicts’ Paradise
No trip to Tokyo is complete without spending a ridiculous amount of time in the arcades, and we were no exception! We found ourselves completely immersed in the games, trying our luck to win prizes. Did we lose a lot of money? Absolutely. But the fun was worth every yen. We spent three hours inside one arcade without even realizing it—it’s easy to get sucked into the excitement of Tokyo’s gaming culture!
Treasure Hunting in Nakano Broadway
Next, we made our way to Nakano Broadway, a treasure trove for anyone into vintage finds. We kicked off with a quick stop at Daiso for some essentials, but the real fun began when we stumbled upon rows and rows of gacha machines. We picked up some Pokémon rings and other surprises, but the real highlight was a second-hand store packed with 90s and 00s merchandise. From old-school anime figures to vintage video game collectibles, Nakano Broadway is a paradise for anyone who loves retro culture. We could have easily spent the whole day there.
Pokémon Store: Reliving the Magic
As huge Pokémon fans, we had to make one last stop at the Pokémon store. This place never disappoints—it’s a wonderland for anyone who’s ever played the games or watched the show. Pokémon is more than just a game; it’s a worldwide adventure that brings people together through nostalgia, friendship, and the thrill of catching ‘em all.
The Enchanting World of Studio Ghibli
Before wrapping up our Tokyo adventure, we took a magical detour into the world of Studio Ghibli. The artistry and heart in every Ghibli film are awe-inspiring, and seeing their world brought to life in a shop was a real treat. If you’re a fan of Ghibli’s stunning visuals and heartfelt stories, this is a must-visit.
Ending the Day at the Kirby Café
We ended our whirlwind day at the Kirby Café, where we were transported into the vibrant, whimsical world of Kirby. The café is a delightful mix of playful characters and colorful landscapes, making it the perfect spot for kids and adults alike.
With Love,
Adi & Nic
